Persistence Is A State Of Mind
If there’s a goal that you’re pursing only you can determine how badly you want it. Only you can decide what you will sacrifice in order to reach your goals, only you can decide if you’re willing and how hard you will fight for what it is that you want. Only you can decide how much you will endure and if your vision is truly worth the effort.
The recurring theme in the opening of this critical post is you. It’s up to you and if you want to achieve the success you desire and its persistence is that will be the key to your victory.
Before I reveal the 8 elements of persistence I want you to understand that first and foremost, you must believe in what you’re doing and why you’re doing it. Without belief yourself there is absolutely nothing that can help you. Everything in business and life begins and ends with belief. Your belief will determine what you can accomplish along with the right mindset, actions, and opportunity. Persistence is what helps you overcome obstacles. You may not yet realize it, but you need to experience obstacles to become the person who has the skills, habits, and disciplines to achieve the goals you’ve set.
Breaking Down Persistence – The 8 Elements
Have you ever asked yourself what is persistence? It’s not really tangible is it? It’s more than any one thing. I’ve come to understand persistence as an idea that has 8 parts. Your job is to put these 8 elements of persistence to work on your behalf to generate the results you want and deserve.
Definiteness of Purpose
You have to be clear to yourself, your family, and anyone who is in your circle of influence what it is – that you’re going after. You have to develop a crystal clear vision for what it is that you want, how you will get there, what you’re willing to do, and when you will put in the required work to accomplish your goals. You need a definite major purpose, it doesn’t matter at all if you don’t know how you will accomplish your goal all that matters is that you set a crystal clear goal, then work backwards to where you are, then eagerly move towards your vision.
Desire is the fuel that drives you in life. You need to cultivate your vision and grow your desire – make your vision real, see it, taste it, and most importantly feel it. Attain your vision in your mind and recognize what your confidence is now like, what you’re grateful for, what can you now contribute, what can you now give, what can you now enjoy? Develop these feeling now and then work with those feelings towards your vision.
Self-confidence is something you can only under estimate. You’ve probably heard the saying, “fake it until you make it” or “act as if.” These two phrases is where your journey to self-confidence, self-image, and self-reliance begin. You’ve got to establish belief in yourself and then excersize that belief by being a person of action, a person of your word, and a person who produces results. If you can’t depend on yourself how can anyone else. Self-reliance is where confidence meets consistency. Consistency and persistence almost go hand in hand, and consistency comes from a sense of knowing and that knowing is rooted in self-confidence.
Definiteness of Plans
You absolutely MUST have a plan, for every 1 minute you plan you save 10 minutes in execution. Your plan won’t be perfect no plan is, you‘ll need to make adjustments along the way. Never allow a day’s work to end without having a plan for tomorrow. It’s your continuous action during the time you have allotted that will compound into the results and success you seek.
Life is a journey, success is a journey, and you can never arrive without the knowledge of how to get there. Without the knowledge you will always lack confidence and any lack of confidence that will impact your desire with doubt. That doesn’t mean you need to know everything – it means you need to have enough knowledge to take action, and then learn from experience while at the same time acquiring more knowledge.
Cooperation of Others
No man is an island; the idea of a self-made millionaire is one of easy money and wreaks of late night infomercials and Hollywood movies. If you’ve here reading this post you know that your success requires integrity and charisma. Your attitude is what will attract the cooperation of others and the people who will believe in you and your vision. Develop or plug into a support system of like minds and friends, as you develop your inner circle mastermind group.
Willpower is important, yet willpower alone will crush your chances of success. You must focus your willpower on the creation of habits. Willpower get you started habits keep you on track. Develop habits and save your willpower for when the going gets tough – remember to use willpower to maintain the disciplines of the positive habits you create.
Habits will dictate your speed to success because habits are truly the key to success. Your game plan to create habits is actually pretty simple. First identify the habits you need to do more often, and then identify those habits you need to do less of, then those you need to eliminate completely, and finally those habits you need to implement. Use your willpower until your powerful habits and mindset take over.
Persistence Into Action
Applying these 8 elements of persistence will skyrocket every area of your life and business. Your results will skyrocket – stay focused and on course, expect and be ready for challenges. Success will come, it may not come in the form you originally thought, or how you originally thought – yet it will come.
